FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
|
Q: When do I need service on a central heat and air conditioning unit?
A: Most furnaces and air conditioners need service check-ups annually. Service could be required sooner if your heating or cooling bills start to increase, your home is not as warm or cool as it should be or your thermostat appears to be working improperly.
Q: How can I be sure the work is done properly?
A: Use a licensed, bonded and insured contractor who can provide references.
Q: What if I’m told a major part, such as the compressor, needs replacing?
A: Always get a second opinion when a costly repair is contemplated
Q: How do I select a qualified service contractor?
A: Check with neighbors that have had good service. Don’t be fooled by flashy ads. Ask for references and check with your local Better Business Bureau, Chamber of Commerce or County Consumer Affairs Department.
Q: What should I ask the person who will service my unit?
A: Are you certified to service air conditioning units? May I see your certification card? I need an estimate before repairs are started.
